She has played, among other sports, softball, racquetball, tennis, basketball, track and field and now pickleball – one of the fastest growing sports, particularly among the senior population. She's in the Chicago 16” softball hall of fame, a Senior Games athlete and a huge sports and fitness advocate. Margaret talks about how she got into sports in a time when organized sports weren't available to girls and tells us how she got into pickleball later in life. Plus, Margaret shares her "anything goes" perspective when it comes to trying a new sport.

In honor of the Spartan Race World Championships taking place in Lake Tahoe, CA, this week's episode is all about Seasoned Spartans!
Our main interview is with Hobie Call, a Utah-based father of five, a member of the Spartan Race Pro Team and someone who is often referred to as the Godfather of Obstacle Racing. With a background as a distance runner, he ran first Spartan Race in 2011, and has since run 84 obstacle races, picking up a stunning 57 first place finishes and becoming a fan favorite along the way. In 2015, he stepped away from professional racing – prompting some to believe he had retired. But he wasn't done, and nothing proved that more than when he showed up to the 2016 Spartan Race World Championships and walked away with his third world championship title. This year, he's making one more run at glory, working toward becoming the first masters athlete to top the overall elite podium at the 2017 Spartan Race World Championships – before officially retiring for REAL this time.

This week, get to know our oldest guest to date - 92-year old Dottie Gray from St. Louis, Missouri. Dottie is a National Senior Games athlete and runner with three decades of experience under her belt. She has completed five marathons, including the 100th running of the Boston Marathon, over 35 half marathons and countless 5 and 10K races. At one point in the 1990s, Dottie ran five races over four states in two weeks. And in 2015, she became the first person over 90 to complete a 5,000 meter race. Dottie talks about how she got into sports (in her forties!) and running (in her fifties!), and how living an active life has helped her stay healthy and mobile into her nineties!

In 2014, she embarked on a mission to run 75 triathlons in 75 days – raising over 6000 pounds for a local childrens charity. In her career, she's earned six long distance world championship age group titles and 28 national age group titles over various distances. In this episode, we talk about how she pulled off completing 75 marathons in 75 days leading up to her 75th birthday, how racing has given her a reason and opportunity to travel the world, and how maintaining an athlete's mindset can help cultivate other non-athletic passions in life.

But a devastating car accident in 2002 changed everything. They told her that she may never run again…she had other ideas. Since recovering from her accident, she has run over 30 marathons, over 30 ultra races, 5 Ironman triathlons and came in 3rd for the US and 9th overall in her age group at the worlds long distance triathlon in Holland. She has completed adventure races, mountain bike races, death races and Spartan Races, all the while living by her motto – “I’ll do these activities until I can’t.”
