Life is coming at us pretty quickly these days, and with that comes new obstacles that pop up in our path. This new world we're all navigating can often be hard to manage, and sometimes it can be downright overwhelming. This is why I decided to launch a new Facebook Live series on where I talk to women athletes over 40 to get their unique perspective on how they are overcoming the new obstacles they've been facing recently.
It's my hope that their stories, tips and advice can help give you some new perspective on how to overcome the obstacles that are unique to you and your life.
In the first episode, I interviewed competitive cyclist and fitness coach Marissa Axell. Here is what she shared:
1. BE ADAPTABLE, CREATIVE AND READY TO TAKE ACTION!
Marissa is a fitness coach, and she had to change her business model to fully online at a moment's notice. She didn't have time to make it perfect - she just needed to make it happen. She views this as an opportunity more than an obstacle. Now is not the time to hold back and wait for perfection - now is the time to try new things and make them happen!
2. CREATE ROUTINE AMID THE CHAOS!
Marissa swears by a morning and evening routine, and gives great examples of what to include. The sooner you can create daily routines in the new version of what your life looks like, the more calm and productive you will be!
3. RECONNECT WITH YOUR WHY!
Marissa has based a lot of her identity and happiness on being a competitive cyclist. With no competitions on the horizon, she was forced to re-evaluate her goals and reconnect with what got her into cycling in the first place: getting into nature, feeling the wind in her hair, and just the pure love of riding. And that's what keeps her motivated now. If your goals have been forced to shift, how can you reconnect with your why?
